Panda Global Protection Beta
If you are not familiar with the name, it is another upcoming Antivirus from a known Cloud Antivirus vendor, Panda Security. It is still in Beta version and you are invited to test it. The Beta license is valid for three months, I think it’s enough to learn many, if not all bugs and vulnerabilities it may have. Anyone is welcome to take part of its Panda Global Protection Beta – Testing, for your queries and suggestions feel free to visit their forum. By the way, Panda Security is giving away € 600 for the Beta Tester of the Year.
What’s new with Panda Global Protection 2015?
The UI (User Interface) is still looks like Windows 8, except that it changes its background color into maroon from black (Panda Cloud Antivirus 3.0). Aside from its looks, Panda Global Protection 2015 added new features such as “application control”, “safe browsing” and “PC tuneup”. It also revived their previous security features that I personally like, the “Parental Control” and “Data Shield”.
Parental Control allows you to deny website contents by categories or by web addresses and domains.
A visited-site-history would be a good addition to this feature, to keep track of what site did our child visits. Because it’s a fact that most children knows how to clear the browser’s history.
It’s not really a clear feature for me. It has an option that you can add “allowed addresses and domains”, to some effect, it’s sort of, Parental Control extension.
It would be better, if it gives us a warning whenever we visited harmful sites. I think, that is safe browsing.
There were times that we want to stop certain application in our computer or we simply don’t want somebody to use it. This application control is the answer. It can allow and deny applications accordingly.
PC Tune up
This is one of the best additions. It will allow you clean your internet cache, history, temporary files and windows registry files. You can execute it right away or have it scheduled to your desired hour and day. PC Tune up also includes defragmenter, actually it uses the windows defragmenter tool.
Unlike the Application Control, Data Shield is meant to protect your documents, videos and musics. It also offers “allow and deny” features to all documents, video and music extensions.
Anti-delete and anti-copy would be a great addition to this feature.
Is Panda Global Protection Beta good enough to protect your PC?
Since it is still a Beta version, you cannot expect it to work as intended yet, I mean you cannot rely it as your primary defense for your computer. It still has many rooms for improvements. So I would suggest to install another antivirus or just turn on your windows defender. Malwarebytes is also a good option.

In my initial review, Panda Global Protection 2015 Beta, failed to detect virus from my portable device, downloaded and compressed files. I even extracted a .rar file which includes virus in it, again Panda Global Protection missed it. However, when I scanned the file with it, the virus was detected and removed. So, it means, as of this writing, the virus detection and removal needs a user intervention which, I personally don’t like. Aside from that, upon testing the other features, I discovered that some aren’t working.
So, is this not a good antivirus? Of course not, this is just a Beta version or a test version. The Panda Security is still gathering information, suggestions and complaints to make Panda Global Protection 2015 better.
The features are already amazing. If the Panda Security Group will able to realize the Panda Global Protection 2015’s features as each name suggest, I am sure this product will become one-of-a-kind.
