Recovery Mode

You can simply choose which types of files that you want to recover or you can select the “All file types” to scan all file formats. Then click “Next” and follow the wizard instructions as shown in the image below.

• Desktop and My Documents.
• I can’t remember.
• I can’t find my partition.

From here, you must select the appropriate and specific location of the files that you want to recover. Desktop and My documents directory would be the best location to choose from. Since it is the default storage location from our documents, pictures, music and downloads.

However, for specific needs you can select “external removal device” for your Flash drive and other external/portable devices. If your desired partition is missing, the “I can’t find my partition” will be useful. What if you just forgot from where you stored your precious data? The “I can’t remember” option will surely help you because it will scan the whole computer to find your important files.

Deep scan or raw file recovery

On the next step, you should choose between the “Deep scan and the raw file recovery”. Deep scan is more appropriate on recovering files from formatted flash drive, hard disk and other portable devices. On the other hand, “Raw and file recovery” is much useful on recovering your precious moments or photos.

So, after selecting either of the two options, click “next” and wait until Wondershare Data Recovery searches your lost files. It may take minutes or hours depending on your hard disk capacity and option selected. Once the search is done, click “Recover” button. Select the path directory or partition from where you want to save your recovered data. Click “Recover” to start the process, wait for just a few minutes.

It is advised that the destination file directory should be on other drive or external hard drive. However, Wondershare Data Recovery still be able to process the recovery even if you choose the same partition or drive as recovery location. All you have to do is to ignore the warning and proceed.

Verdict

In this review I choose the “recycle bin” and the “raw file recovery”. Wondershare Data Recovery was able to recover almost all of my deleted images. It also includes the images that being cache from my browsers. So far, I never found anything negative about Wondershare Data Recovery. Perhaps, except the “save scan” issue. It take me sometime to figure out where an how to save the scan. As of this review, it seems that you are only allowed to save the scan in drive C: alone.
