So, what’s the point of guiding you on how to hide PLDT Home Fibr WiFi/SSID? Well, indeed, hiding your WiFi-SSID will not save you from advance or skilled hackers. And I don’t recommend it as your primary WiFi security. It is better to change your PLDT Home Fibr WiFi password twice a week rather than relying on this SSID hiding method.

Nevertheless, hiding your PLDT Home Fibr SSID may be beneficial somehow. As we know, most PLDT WiFi hackers attack the visible SSID only, using the Hex Code/Mac Table. In this case, hiding SSID may help. But again, this is not valid WiFi security.

1 Open a  browser on your  PC or Smartphone . In the address bar type  192.168.1.1,  if you are still using the default URL.

2 Log in using  admin  and  1234 .

3Inside PLDT Home Fibr router, go to the  Network  tab. Under  Basic  click  Advance , in the  SSID Name  at the extreme right tick the  Hidden  and click  Apply . Do the same to  5G Advance  if you want  both of your WiFi/SSID  to be hidden.

What Happens when you hide your WiFi/SSID?

Momentarily all connected devices will be disconnected from the internet. Don’t worry; the connection will resume after a few seconds. Although there were instances that a device lost the WiFi connection and needs to reconnect. Now, how are you going to reconnect to a hidden WiFi/SSID?

How to connect to a hidden WiFI/SSID

To connect to a hidden WiFi/SSID you need to know the Network Name, Security Mode, and the WiFi password.

Android

  • Go to Settings App, select WiFi.
  • Tap Action menu (three dots), Add Network, type the Network Name, Security Mode, WiFi password.
  • Tap the Save or Connect.

iOs

  • Tap Settings, select WiFi, and Other.
  • Type the Network Name, Security Mode, and WiFi password.
  • Tap Join.

Windows 7

  • Go to Control Panel select Network and Sharing Center and Manage Wireless Networks.
  • Click Add and manually create a network profile.
  • Type the WiFi or Network name, Security type, Encryption mode, and Security Key or WiFi Password.
  • Choose, Start this connection automatically.
  • Choose Connect even if the network is not broadcasting.
  • Click Next.

Windows 8/8.1

  • At the lower-right corner of your monitor, left-click the WiFi icon.
  • Click Open Network and Sharing Center, choose Set up a new connection or network and click Next.
  • Choose Manually connect to a wireless network and click Next.
  • Type the Network name, Security type, Encryption mode, and Security Key or WiFi password.
  • Click Next.

Windows 10

  • At the lower-right corner of your monitor, left-click the WiFi icon.
  • Select Network Settings, WiFi, Hidden Network, Connect.
  • Type the SSID or WiFi Name and click Next.
  • Type the network security key, or WiFi password then click Next.

mac OS

  • At the upper-right corner of your monitor, left-click the WiFi icon.
  • A network menu pops up, then select Join Other Network.
  • Type the Network or WiFi Name, Security mode, and WiFi Password.
  • If you want to connect to this network in the future automatically, select Remember this network and click Join.

Linux

  • Open the system menu. For more information, refer to your device’s user manual.
  • Choose WiFi is Not Connected. A WiFi menu appears.
  • Select WiFi Settings, Connect to Hidden Network.
  • In the Connection drop-down list, select New.
  • Type the WiFi or Network name, WiFi security mode, and WiFi password and click Connect.
