If you are experiencing one of the five or two, just relax. I will guide you in fixing these issues. First, let us prepare the needed materials.
- Rubber Eraser (not pencil’s eraser).
- Lint-free cloth (not cotton).
- Isopropyl alcohol (not ethyl.
- Paint brush.
- Compressed air.
How to Fix RAM Problems?
Directions:
1. Detach your RAM from your motherboard, place it on the table (clean and static free). Using your rubber eraser, rub the gold contacts at the bottom of your RAM until it’s free from dirt or molds.
Your other option is to use isopropyl alcohol. Drop a little amount of it in a lint-free cloth then clean the gold contacts of your RAM with it.
2. You just cleaned your RAM. Now you have to clean it’s memory slot also by blowing it using your compressed air or just by brushing it with unused paint brush. A vacuum cleaner blower can also be used but you should observe a standard distance, half a ruler from the memory slot is recommended.
Congratulation! you are now ready to re-set your RAM. After re-placing your RAM you should boot your PC now and it must be working.
Still didn’t work? Try following the directions three times. If still a failure then it must be your RAM having a hardware problem. Let us check it with the help of Memtest.
- Download Memtest86 (for CD .iso or for Flash drive)
- Burn it with FreeISOBurner or with your existing Burner software. (For CD only)
- If you choose flash drive just run the installer and follow the installer wizard.
- Restart your PC.
- Go to BIOS, to change boot priority, save changes and reboot.
- The Memtest 86 now runs, to test your RAM.
If you see no errors, try to clean your RAM again but if you see a lot of errors then it’s the time to give yourself another RAM for good.
